Gus was found abandoned in Houston. He was in his second foster home
when we first saw him on the web site. We had recently had to put our
beloved Gatsby to sleep (a fifteen year old OES) and we wanted to get a
rescue OES. We fell in love with Gus over the Texas OES rescue website!
We had wanted to wait until after school was out to get Gus but
the foster family who had him needed to move him quickly. So we flew Gus
to Charlotte N.C. on April 24, 2005. Upon his arrival, we changed his
name to BEAUMONT and call him BEAU in honor of the city from which he
came.
BEAU has been a blessing to us ever since he arrived. He loves
all that he meets and enjoys just being part of our family. He enjoys
walks each morning and hanging out with who ever is home in the evening.
He is currently in obedience training and is a star! We have discovered
that BEAU has a healthy appetite and he has gained more than a few
pounds since his arrival. We lovingly refer to him as being " thick as a
brick!". Our vet has suggested that we give him " canned green beans" if
he appears hungry between feeding times - BEAU actually thinks they are
great!
BEAU has been such a great addition to our family that we are
thinking of adding another OES to our family unit. Thanks to the Texas
OES rescue society for allowing BEAU to travel by air to become a new
Charlottean! BEAU is currently 3 years old and we have 84 pounds of him
to love!
