Chloe's Happy Tails

About a year ago, we lost our beloved 15 ˝ year old rescued Sheepdog, Gumbo (he was a Louisiana Sheepdog).  We discovered and began to watch the TX OES website.  We were so impressed with the rescue work the group was doing that we put in an adoption application.

We were called to check out a potential Sheepdog in need of rescue from Animal Control.  When we arrived we were shocked to find an owner had turned in a very neglected middle-aged sheepdog.  She was underweight, dirty, matted and smelled, but you could tell she was gentle, friendly, and her tail never stopped wagging.  We started the rescue process.

We brought Chloe home, where we discovered just how sweet, intelligent and lovable she was.  She loved to romp in the shady backyard (so much for being middle-aged).  She would run to one corner of the yard and come back to snuggle against your leg to make sure you were still there for her.  After a bath, she turned from a brown and gray dog into a majestic white and gray Old English Sheepdog.  The trip to the vet brought good news—she had no serious health problems.  In spite of all the neglect, dirt, mats, fleas, ticks, and parasites, the good news was that she did not have heartworms.  The other issues were all treatable and Chloe was on the road to recovery.

In less than 2 weeks, Chloe has brought so much joy to our family.  She is such a happy dog that when her tail wags her whole backside wags.  She just never stops smiling, and you cannot help but smile back when you see her.  She now has a spring in her step and loves to go for walks.  She is so loyal and devoted.  She herds us like we are her flock and my sons are always under her watchful eye.  When she snuggles that big soft head up next to you, you cannot help but fall in love with her.  We are so grateful that TX OES Rescue (Cindy and Steve) brought this wonder companion into our lives.  This is one Happy Tail !
