The story of Lola (aka Daisy)

Some things are just meant to be.  I knew I was meant to have my first sheepdog, Dawson, and it looks like I was meant to have my second one as well!

After having Dawson for a year and a half and learning all his sheepie ways, I fell in love with this breed.  Even though I am home all day with Dawson I felt like he needed another dog to have doggie play time with.  I was set on finding another sheepie for him.  I looked at rescues from all over and stumbled upon Texas OES rescue on the Internet (I live in Missouri).  I filled out an application after looking at the sweet dogs they had for adoption and had my eye on Lola; there was something about her pictures and the sound of the "Theme from Forest Gump" playing in the background that melted my heart toward her.  I made it clear on my application however that I could not drive to Texas to pick up a dog.

Steve called me shortly thereafter and said that oddly enough he had to soon be taking a road trip to Illinois and that he could conceivably bring a dog and deliver it to me!
Lola was being fostered in West Texas and by coincidence, was making a trip to within 40 miles of Steve.  Near enough to where he lived that he could pick her up in time to take her to Missouri.  Amazing!  Then we learned from her paperwork that she had actually been born in Missouri!  So she came back to her home state.

Lola (I call her Daisy) was hand delivered by a very thoughtful Steve right to my door and we loved her from the first minute.  She and Dawson play very well together.  She is a little possessive about her food, but hey, I'll give her that.

I wondered whether her deafness would be a problem for me.  She already knew a few hand signals and obeyed about 75% of the time.  What I have learned is that all of her other senses are heightened even more than a "normal" dog, so she uses vibration, light changes, images, and smell to "hear" and she actually does quite well!  If in doubt, she just follows Dawson.

As she is not quite 2 years old she still has some of her puppy ways…we are hoping that in the next 3-6 months she will mature out of the need to chew on things.  She has a rare beauty with one china blue eye and one brown eye.  After a trip to the groomer we could see both eyes perfectly!

She has a new spot next to Dawson and me in my big bed at night.  We lived happily ever after!
