From the mouth of Lucy:
WOW, I thought I'd never be adopted! People would look at my picture on
the TexasOESRescue website and pass me by because I am a "senior"
dog. Always looking for a cute "puppy". Why? They are such a
bother...and never are potty trained! I was adopted on 07/07/07 when I
was 7 years old. Imagine that. Someone wanted me!
This new family has 4 children. It's sometimes difficult to keep track
of who's coming and going, so I like to take my daily nap in the "heavy
traffic" zones. At night, I wander upstairs to make sure everyone is
where they are supposed to be, and then sleep at the bottom of the
steps. This way, I'm right there incase anyone needs me.
Here it is, a year later. I ride in the car to take my oldest to school
for water polo practice at 5:30am. Then I come home to suit up the
other kid for morning baseball practice, and get the two youngest out
the door for the school bus. I can't wait until the house is empty, so
I can nap all day while guarding the house. I hear the bus come around
at 3:00 every day..and greet everyone at the door. I make sure
everyone gets equal attention from me, before dinner time. When it's
time to cook dinner, I lay right in the middle of the kitchen floor. I
always want to be visible incase my people need me. Sometimes the young
people get to rough-housing....and they are really good at stopping when
they hear my "grrrr".
In July of this year, my family fostered Digby. He came to us as a
really sick puppy. I taught him the ropes, by showing him how to get
the people to open the back door. He was adopted really fast, as my
people cared for him very well. This is a very special family...and I
take care of them the best I know how.
Good Luck in finding your forever home....when you do, I hope you are as
blessed as I am!
Barks and Licks,
Lucy
