My husband and I have been wanting another dog for awhile. We were a 3
dog family, but the ladies are getting up there in age and the boy
needed a buddy to play with. We called Cindy at Texas OES Rescue in
November (they are the group we turned to when we were looking for Sammi)
and she told me that (at that time) there were no male dogs available.
We have a time schedule so we could not leave at a moments notice.
Thanksgiving was the perfect time for us to travel. We waited and
waited and finally got the call from Cindy. Now all we needed was a
weekend to drive to Texas.
As you know, the weather is a big factor in Missouri. Every weekend we
could travel , the weather did not cooperate. Finally after numerous
cancellations, I told Cindy that "god has other plans for us." We were
not meant to drive to Texas.

Then on March 12th I received an e-mail and phone call from Cindy. She
told me about this boy that was rescued by WeCare and they were looking
for a family. I saw the pictures that were sent and I fell in love. I
told my husband and we got in contact with Johnna and made plans to pick
him up on that Saturday.
I was excited/nervous/ happy all rolled up in one. I think my husband
was thinking about things that never entered my mind. (would they all
get along, will he be aggressive, etc.)
We met Johnna and I fell in love with the big boy. His ride home was
good. We took one of our dogs for the ride and she was a little
apprehensive. He laid out all over the back of the van and Corky had
to sit in the seat.

Once we got home, he reminded me of the "jock" at a school. He went off
by himself and laid in the sun with his rawhide bone. Sammi and Boo
didn't know what to think. Every time they went near him, he was very
firm about his "space."
He ate first and didn't like anyone around his bowl or water. That
came to a hault.
I let him know I was boss and this house "shares."
He didn't sleep by the bed but rather kept to himself. We took him to
the vet and found out that he had Heartworm and that the treatment would
be taken in levels. The first level meant he would spend two nights at
the vets. After that he would have to be calm for a month and then the
next treatment. Then this summer we are having him neutered. A lot of
things ahead."
So after one week, we took him to the vet for the first treatment.
Everything went well. The vet told me he was resting quietly and
everything looks good. Now we needed to leave him there for one more
night.
The next evening I called to see how he was. The vet spoke to me on the
phone and asked that David and I could come up to the clinic. He was
fine but he was VERY depressed. So David and I went up there to see
him. The vet told me that he hasn't eaten, he was mope, sad and that he
felt he had been abandoned once again. That all changed when he heard
my voice The vet couldn't believe the change. He kissed, kissed and
kissed. He wiggled and talked. He was the happiest boy. The vet told
us to take him home because the entire staff was so sad because he was
so depressed. We brought him home and all he did was kiss the rest of
the family. Once he calmed down, he went over to his favorite place
and fell fast asleep.
He is the happiest boy I've ever seen. Every morning he wakes us up
with kisses and talking. He loves his life and he is a blessing for
our family.
Boo and Moose are buddies. They play, romp, sleep, eat together. I
cant imagine life before Moose. His name was because he is such a BIG
BOY !!
He loves his life, and we love him.
Thank YOu again for your big hearts !!
Love,
David, Linda, Corky, Sammi, BooBoo and MOOSE
