9/2/05 I wish dogs could talk, because Nellie would have had quite a story to tell about her past. She came from CAP, and the vet's news was not good...she was over 10, she had heartworms and congestive heart failure. Her hips were stiff, she wasn't spayed and her eyes were beginning to cloud over. |
| Art and I made the only decision there was to make....she could live with us in her Golden Years. We treated the HW's with monthly Heartguard, the CHF with lasix. She responded well to both, and gained weight. To our delight, she was very well house-trained. |

When she felt better, she would even head-butt our lab to get him to play with her. He was always so gentle when he played, being careful not to knock her over. |
| Three months ago she had to be spayed due to medical issues. She made it through it, though she was weak afterwards. Two weeks ago we came to the sad conclusion that her quality of life had diminished greatly and that her system was beginning to shut down. It was unfair to her to allow her to struggle. We helped her to the Rainbow Bridge, It's still so strange to come home to no Nellie. Seniors are such special folks. |
Nellie,
I know you're with Winnie,
