I have been remiss in not sending pictures of Nia, and I wanted to send
you one I took last weekend. She has done so great on her thyroid meds,
her skin is so much better, and I even think her ears are looking better
(the skin is not as thick looking) and the entropia on her lower eye
lids has not been bothering her for quite some time. There are times I
think she might even be hearing something every once in a while, but
maybe it's just coincidence?
Ever since I got a baby grand piano and put it in the dining area just
inside the front door, she has decided that's the perfect place to
sleep in the house. It's out of the traffic flow of Maybeline and
Seymour, and in the morning when the sun comes in through the leaded
glass windows in that area, it's quite nice.
I hope you are all doing well!

The following
are pictures of Nia in her new home. I want to let TXOESR know how happy I
am that she was able to come here to live. It's been an interesting
challenge for me dealing with a deaf dog, but it's been no problem at
all. Being an elder stateswoman of the breed, Nia is rather quiet and
does like her naps, but she also is very loving, and gets very excited
at meal time :D (and I'm starting to think that the refrigerator door
opening is the one thing she CAN hear! LOL)
She picked up the dog door and going outside when she wakes up from a
long nap in no time at all. She's a little slow going in and out it,
and I have had to scold Maybeline a few times for trying to go through
at the same time, but luckily it's the Giant sized door, so there is
room, although just barely!
As you can see from the picture of Maybeline and Seymour wrestling in
front of her, she does seem a bit concerned about the lack of manners
and decorum in the younger members of the "pack", but they are all
getting along, and sleep together in the same sunroom at night or when I
have to leave the
house.
I like to think she is happy here, and has made many new friends in my
friends and family who have come by to meet her and visit. She reminds
me very much of my dear Grady whom I lost to cancer in May of this year,
at least in her demeanor, and I'm hoping she will have the same calming
influence, and be a good example, for Maybeline and Seymour as they are
growing up (Maybeline just turned 1 year old two weeks ago, and Seymour
was 2 in June).
Thanks again for all your marvelous group did for Nia in the year she
was in her foster home. I can tell they loved her dearly, and it was
difficult for them to let her go after being a part of their family for
so long. But I do appreciate the opportunity to be Nia's final home,
and have this sweet, loving, senior lady to care for and love.
