This one is a picture of Colin and Penelope at our school's annual Blessing of the Animals in honor of St. Francis.  We hold it every October and it draws  big crowd.

Here is Penelope actually receiving her blessing.  She was extremely well behaved!

It snowed like crazy here at Thanksgiving, so we took a walk to the creek behind our house.  Penelope loved the snow!!

This was our official Christmas card photo for 2007.  They all four look great!

Hi Steve,

Hey, well if ever there was a case for "better late than never..."!   The following are few pictures of our Penelope...the sixth member of our family.  All is well and much, much better than we ever  expected.  She has been a wonderful addition and friend here in Abilene!

Constantly underfoot, totally available....Penelope is a devoted  companion.  I had just two rules when she came to live with us.  Stay  off the beds.  Stay off the couches.  I have since adjusted.  We have  a 73 pound lap dog.  When we are gone, she sits/sleeps on the sofa in the front window awaiting our return.  She also enjoys a good movie  in the den.  And while she does sleep on her own bed at night, she takes advantage of any available mattress space at all other times.

Especially in the mornings when she leaps up to remind us when we oversleep by a minute or two.  In addition to being a companion, she is also a caretaker.  At least twice a night she can be heard padding around each bedroom in turn to check on the children (we think that's just grand).  She also reminds any visitors to our door she must be reckoned with first.  A gentle note of warning...then a warm wet welcome to our friends!

And she has adjusted in other ways as well.  Penelope had taken to  the groomers at her vets office.  Never has she been muzzled or  sedated.  She WAS a "caution" dog in the beginning, given her  history, however she now spends the day at the groomer about once a month and that label no longer applies!!  A HUGE step and change in  her behavior!

All-in-all we love and adore her and the feeling seems to be mutual.  We couldn't be happier with our OES Penelope!!

All the best,

Jon and Susie (and the Bunch)
